THE DAY I STARTED TO DISAPPEAR
2023
The Day I Started to Disappear (2023) is a 30-minute performance that reflects on the physical labor of crafting ceramic vessels and the body’s relationship to material. Rooted in the tradition of carrying water in large ceramic vessels across many cultures, the piece examines the tension between disconnection and grounding, safety and discomfort.
Performed on a 30 m2 (tennis court)clay-covered floor, the work features a soundscape of workshop recordings, manual labor, and natural environments. These rhythmic elements mirror the cyclical, grounding nature of traditional practices, anchoring me in time and space. The performance becomes a meditation on presence, process and the delicate interplay between body, material and necessity.
